PIC18F6390/6490/8390/8490 microcontrollers with LCD driver and nanoWATT technology
PIC18F6390/6490/8390/8490 are the latest PICMicro microcontrollers with LCD driver. The Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) driver module generates the timing control to drive static or multiplexed LCD panel. In the 80-pin devices (PIC18F8390/8490), the module drives the panels of up to four commons and up to 48 segments and in the 64-pin devices (PIC18F6390/6490), the module drives the panels of up to four commons and up to 32 segments. It also provides control of the LCD pixel data. The LCD driver module supports 1/2, 1/3 or 1/4 multiplexed modes with selectable prescaler of the three LCD clock sources. In 1/4 multiplexed mode PIC18F6390/6490 can drive up to 128 segments, and PIC18F8390/8490 up to 192.
Except the possibility for driving of LCD panels, these microcontrollers include all of the features of the PIC18F family 8x8 hardware multiplier. The hardware 8x8 unsigned multiplication can be completed in a single instruction cycle if one of the arguments is loaded in the WREG (Working Register). Because of the nanoWATT technology the PIC18F6390/6490/8390/8490 devices incorporate a range of features that can significantly reduce power consumption during operation. The maximum frequency coming from external oscillator is 40MHz, which means that one instruction can be executed for 100ns. The FLASH program memory of PIC18FX390 is 4K Single-Word Instructions, and 16FX490 8K Single-Word Instructions. In PIC18FXX90 family MCUs are integrated also RAM data memory of 768 bytes; 10-bit, up to 12 channels A/D Converter; 1xSPI and 1xI2C Master, also 1xAUSART and 1xEUSART communication interfaces.
All of the integrated features in PIC18FXX90 family PICMicro microcontrollers and the LCD driver allow their easy implementation in Automotive, Appliance, Sensor/Scanner and Consumer applications.
